Dryer Vent Cleaning & Repair — Book a Visit Today

We clean and repair dryer vents, and on a visit we measure airflow, pull the dryer out, brush and vacuum the full run, reseal loose joints, and replace kinked hose with smooth metal where it belongs. Lint does not all stay in the trap. Some of it rides the air into the vent line, sticks to the ridges, and builds a felt-like layer that chokes airflow. A blocked vent means long dry times, a hot laundry room, and a real fire risk. Crushed flex hose behind the dryer, a stuck outside flap, a disconnected joint in the basement joists, bird nests in the wall cap: all of them do the same thing. Basement and second-floor runs get extra attention because they are long. Call us and tell us where your dryer sits.

The dryer vent cleaning & symptoms we hear most

  • Everything takes three cycles to dry Restricted vent run or heavy lint buildup
  • The laundry room feels like a sauna Vent leaking indoors or a disconnected duct joint
  • Clothes come out hot but still damp Moist air not exhausting; blocked line or crushed hose
  • I smell something scorched when it runs Lint packed near the heat source, or a dryer running hot
  • The flap outside never opens anymore Stuck or nested wall cap and damper

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Pull the lint screen and hold it under running water. If water pools instead of passing through, softener residue is coating it.
  • 2Peek behind the dryer and see whether the flex hose is crushed flat against the wall.
  • 3Step outside while a cycle runs and feel for steady warm air at the wall or roof cap.
  • 4Look for lint dust or damp spots on the floor around the back panel of the dryer, which points to a loose connection.

After the visit, in their words

“Freezer frost was an inch thick. He fixed the heater, explained the airflow, and the frost never came back.”

Ellen D.Clinton Township, MI

“Honest about what they could not fix, which made me believe everything else they said.”

Marcus L.Lee's Summit, MO

“Washer would not drain with a load of soaked towels inside. They moved the visit up when I explained.”

Dryer Vent Cleaning & Repair — quick answers

How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?

Once a year suits most households. Larger families, pet owners, and homes with long basement runs do better with more often than that. If dry times creep up between cleanings, that is your signal, not the calendar.

Can a clogged vent damage the dryer itself?

Yes. Trapped heat pushes thermal fuses, heating elements, and thermostats past their limits. Plenty of dryers we open on a no-heat call were choked by a blocked vent, and the part failed protecting the machine.

Is foil accordion hose a problem?

It traps lint in every ridge, and it kinks easily when the dryer gets pushed back. Rigid or semi-rigid metal duct moves air better and holds its shape. We swap it out when access allows.

What about a vent that runs up through the roof?

Vertical runs collect more lint because gravity works against the airflow. Roof caps also attract nesting birds. A run like that needs brushing from the correct end, so we plan the approach before starting.

Do you fix broken vent parts or only clean?

Both. Cracked duct, separated joints in a joist bay, missing wall caps, dampers that no longer swing, all of it gets repaired or replaced. Cleaning a line that leaks into a crawlspace solves nothing.

Will you move the dryer to reach the vent?

We do. The dryer comes out, the hose comes off, and we clean the duct along with the dryer's own blower housing. Then it goes back, gets reconnected, and we verify airflow before we leave.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call us or fill out the form and describe what you hear, smell, or see. An error code helps. So does a puddle. We ask the brand and rough age so the van carries the parts we are likely to need.

  2. Step 2

    We come look

Our technician tests the machine instead of guessing: water lines, heating elements, drain pumps, control boards. Then we explain what failed in plain words before any wrench turns.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and clean up

Common parts ride with us, so a lot of repairs finish on that first visit. Special-order parts get scheduled right away. We run the cycle with you standing there, then haul off the old part and the packaging.

Why homeowners call us

  • Hard water is our specialtyMidwest water leaves scale on everything it touches. Crusted dishwasher spray arms. Clogged ice maker lines, and washers and water heaters full of mineral buildup. We know what that grit does to valves and seals, so we treat the cause instead of the symptom.
  • Basement laundry roomsBasement setups fail differently than upstairs ones, between the long drain runs, the cold concrete, and lint packed into a vent that runs through the rim joist. We check the venting and the drain path too, not only the machine, so the same problem does not come back.
  • Freeze-thaw season readyGarage freezers quit in January. Ice makers stop when the supply line freezes, and dryers labor when the vent hood ices over. Seasonal swings break appliances in fairly predictable ways, and those are the first things we look at on a winter call.
  • Independent, all major brandsWe are not tied to any manufacturer, so we work on whatever is sitting in your kitchen or laundry room: refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers, washers, dryers, freezers. One shop, one call, whatever badge is on the door.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Whirlpool, LG, Samsung, GE, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and the rest.
  • Straight answersIf it isn't worth repairing, we'll say so, often right on the phone.
